904L Stainless Steel Material Properties
● Chemical composition: the main alloying elements of 904L stainless steel include nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo) and copper (Cu), of which the content of Ni is usually between 23% and 28%, the content of Cr is between 19% and 23%, the content of Mo is between 4% and 5%, and a small amount of copper is added to improve the acid resistance.
● Corrosion resistance: 904L stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, especially in non-oxidizing acids (such as sulfuric acid, acetic acid, formic acid and phosphoric acid). In addition, it has good resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion rupture.
● High Temperature Resistance: 904L stainless steel maintains stable performance even in high temperature environments, making it suitable for high temperature and high pressure industrial applications.
● Machinability: Although 904L stainless steel may have a tendency to stick to the knife and work harden during machining, it still has good machinability and weldability overall.

Types and Structures
There are various types of 904L stainless steel flanges, including but not limited to the following:
● Weld neck flanges: weld neck flanges are connected to the pipeline through welding, with high strength and excellent sealing performance, suitable for harsh working conditions such as high pressure, high temperature and corrosive media.
● Slip-on flanges: slip-on flanges are connected with pipelines through bolts and nuts, which are easy to install and have a certain degree of flexibility, and are suitable for pipeline systems with medium pressure and temperature.
● Threaded flange: Threaded flange connects the pipeline through threads, simple structure, easy installation, but relatively weak sealing performance, suitable for low pressure and small diameter pipeline system.
● Blind flanges: blind flanges are used to close the end of pipeline or connect the inlet and outlet of equipment, usually used in conjunction with gaskets to ensure sealing performance.
