Types and Materials
● Types: According to the shape of the sealing face, there are three categories: Raised Surface (RF), Concave Surface (MFM), Tongue and Groove Surface (TG), Ring Junction (RJ), etc. All of these types of sealing face can satisfy different sealing requirements and operating conditions.
● Material: Socket weld flanges are available in a variety of materials, including carbon steel (for example, ASTM A105, 20 #, Q235, etc.), stainless steel (e.g. 304, 316), alloy steel, etc. The flanges of different materials can be used in different media and operating temperature.
Features and Advantages
● Good Sealing: Socket Weld Flange can get good sealing effect and prevent medium leakage by fitting and welding of tube end and flange ring.
● High Strength: As a result of the welding connection, the socket weld flange is strong and rigid, able to bear high pressure and load.
● It is easy to install: The installation procedure of socket welding flange is simple. Just insert the tube end into the flange ring and weld it. No complex bolt and pad adjustment is required.
● Application: Socket weld flange is applicable to many kinds of medium and working conditions, for example in oil, chemical, natural gas, etc.
Application and Selection
● Application: Socket weld flanges are widely used in various piping systems, especially where they need to withstand high pressure and temperature changes. In petroleum, chemical, natural gas and other industries, socket weld flanges are one of the important parts for connecting pipelines and equipment.
● Selection: When selecting socket weld flanges, comprehensive consideration needs to be made according to the working pressure, temperature, corrosiveness of the medium, as well as the size and wall thickness of the pipeline. At the same time, it is also necessary to pay attention to whether the sealing surface form of the flange matches the sealing requirements of the piping system.
Socket weld flanges are designed for small nominal pipe sizes (≤ 4 inches, ≤ 10cm) and are common for ½ to 2-inch pipe sizes (1.3 to 5cm pipe sizes). The mechanical strength of a socket weld flange is similar to that of a slip-on flange, but the slip-on flange may use two welds.
